My journey began in Nashik, Maharashtra, where I was introduced to the world of vineyards. Working as a cellar manager and winemaker, I honed my skills and developed a deep appreciation for the complexities of viticulture. My quest for knowledge led me to France, where I worked in some of the most renowned vineyards in Bordeaux. Here, I witnessed firsthand the meticulous care and attention required to produce world-class wines.



Culinary and Hospitality Insights

Before immersing myself fully in the world of winemaking, I gained significant experience in the hospitality industry, working with InterContinental Hotels by Gordon Ramsay. This period was instrumental in developing my palate and understanding the symbiotic relationship between fine dining and exquisite wines. It also honed my skills in customer service and hospitality management, which are crucial in the wine industry.

The Bordeaux Experience: Crafting Excellence

My time in Bordeaux has been invaluable in understanding the nuances of winemaking. I had the privilege of working at Château Cambon La Pelouse, a property managed by Penfolds, an Australian company based in Bordeaux. My role as a wine cellar assistant and winemaker operations allowed me to immerse myself in the intricate processes of winemaking. Additionally, my experience with Pomerol in Château Hubert de Boüard group during the harvesting season, where I was involved in grape cutting, further enriched my understanding of the vineyard's lifecycle.

Organic Viticulture: A Path to Better Health

Organic viticulture is a farming practice that eschews synthetic chemicals and emphasizes the use of natural processes to cultivate grapes. This method has numerous benefits for both human health and the environment. By avoiding synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, organic vineyards reduce the exposure to harmful chemicals for both workers and consumers. This is particularly important in ensuring the health and safety of those who enjoy wine.

Numerous studies from around the world have highlighted the benefits of organic grape farming. Research from the University of California, Davis, for instance, has shown that organic vineyards support greater biodiversity and soil health compared to conventional vineyards. This, in turn, leads to healthier vines and better quality grapes.

This is significant as it suggests that organic wines can be not only safer but also more beneficial for health.

In my ongoing PhD research, I am conducting a comparative analysis of wines produced from organically grown grapes versus conventional vineyards. This involves evaluating sensory characteristics, chemical composition, and aging potential.
